What Within stores on your device

Everything you enter is saved locally so the app can show your history and work out your patterns:

• Your days. The capacity level you set each day, and your morning and evening check-ins — sleep quality, symptom load, how long you could stay upright, how the day compared, and any symptoms you tapped.
• Your activities and rest. When something happened, how long it lasted, what it cost you across the four domains, whether you were upright or away from home, whether you stopped early, and any note you type.
• Your activity presets. The names you give them, their symbols, and your estimates of what they cost.
• Crashes. When a crash started and ended.
• Your Crash Mode setup. The support contacts you add, including their names and phone numbers; your medications, including doses and notes; and your communication cards.
• Your patterns. The insights Within shows you, worked out on your iPhone from the records above.
• Your settings. Your protected reserve, attribution window, domain weights, appearance, visual comfort, haptics, and which parts of the interface you have switched on.

That is the complete list. None of it is transmitted, because there is nowhere for it to be transmitted to — Within has no server, no backend, and no network code at all. Nothing you log leaves your iPhone unless you export it yourself and choose where to send it.

Since none of this reaches us, we hold no copy of your data — there is nothing for you to request from us, nothing for us to correct, and nothing for us to erase. Your data is only ever in your hands.

Siri and Shortcuts

Within lets you log an activity, log rest, or set your capacity with Siri. So that Siri can recognise what you say, the app gives iOS the names of your activity presets — for example "shower" or "phone call" — and nothing else. No entries, notes, capacity levels, medications, or contacts are ever exposed this way.

How Apple handles what you say to Siri is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy. If you would rather share nothing at all, you can avoid using the Siri shortcuts and turn Siri suggestions off in the iOS Settings app.

Free trial and subscription

Within gives you three days free before asking for anything. To keep track of that, the app stores one date in your device's iOS Keychain: when your trial began. It contains no personal information and no identifier. The app also remembers when a subscription expires, so it knows on launch whether you have access.

You should know that Keychain items remain on your device after you delete an app. This is intentional — it stops the free trial from being restarted by reinstalling. If you would like that date removed, email us and we will tell you how.

If you subscribe, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Within never sees your name, your email, your payment card, or your Apple Account details. There is no receipt server and no backend of any kind — the app simply asks iOS whether an active subscription exists. Anything Apple collects to process a purchase, a renewal, or a restore is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy and the App Store terms.

Exporting your data

Within can build a PDF report and spreadsheets of everything you have logged. These files are created on your iPhone and handed to the standard iOS share sheet, where you decide what happens to them — save to Files, send in a message, email them to a doctor, or cancel.

The app never chooses a destination and never uploads anything. Please note that "Export all data" includes the notes you have typed, so consider where you are sending it. The narrower Report export can leave notes out or redact them.

What Within does not do

• No accounts, logins, or user profiles.
• No analytics, crash reporting, or usage telemetry.
• No advertising, and no advertising or tracking identifiers.
• No third-party SDKs — the app has no external dependencies whatsoever.
• No selling, sharing, or disclosing of data to anyone.
• No iCloud sync and no backup held by us. Your data does not travel between devices.
• No notifications, reminders, or badges — Within will not chase you.
• No access to your camera, photos, microphone, location, contacts, calendar, or Apple Health data. Within never requests these permissions.
• No artificial intelligence or machine learning applied to anything you log.

The support contacts you add are stored only so Within can offer you a button to call them. The app never dials on its own and never reads your device's address book.

Children

Within is not directed at children under 13. Because the app collects no personal data from anyone, it collects none from children either.

Deleting your data

Delete all data in the More tab removes everything Within has recorded — every day, entry, crash, pattern, contact, medication, and card — and cannot be undone. Deleting the app from your iPhone removes it all as well. There is no cloud copy and no backup held by us, so nothing survives elsewhere.

The one exception is the trial date described above, which iOS keeps in the Keychain. Email us if you would like it cleared.

Changes to this policy

If Within ever changes how it handles information, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change. Meaningful changes will be described here rather than made quietly.
